From Kansas to L.A.
A journey of inspiration.

Live Food 101 is a place for people committed to putting fresh organic food, the best food into our bodies. I wish to share resources, knowledge, and opportunities to learn & experience all that we can. From home grown gardens and help of local organic farmers, we can have the best food on earth !
Join me on my journey to lose over 100 pounds on natural foods, with delicious easy recipes made with lots of love and every day foods .

My grandmother had a restaurant in her home, and my first job was being a car hop at A&W Root beer... I went on to study the food world and remained in the business professionally for over 25 yrs. I semi-retired and took on a new career helping people with pets find a great place to live in So. Cal. I can tell ya my life changed and my new desk job helped add on the pounds !

From Texas to the country in Kansas , & then off to the big city life here in L. A. , where art, culture, music, food and fashion rule , I have been transported into another world. But no matter where we come from we all have one thing in common, we all have to eat !

There is a new consciousness to start eating more healthy, which means more plant based foods. An awareness has come about that we want Big farmers to stop spraying our food with poisons , that organic foods are possible for the masses and we can feed ourselves and families the best foods possible . There is a better way to live. A better way to breathe, a better way to eat .
We are what we eat!
Review planned daily foods at the bottom to help see how the foods we food effect us in calories and nutrition . Remember to get moving, breathe deeply and love yourselves as you love your family and friends everyday!

All the food turned out perfect !

I hope everyone  had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your loved ones.
I'm spending time with family, so I'll be keeping this post short. In addition
to being thankful for my family and health, I'm thankful for all the support
to those who have helped make this site a useful resource for us foodies.

We spent Thanksgiving dinner with long time friends , our godchildren and their families last night...
all the food turned out perfect (which of course means I ate way too much).

As we were sitting at the table, I was hit by how grateful
we should be for what we have.

Anyone who is reading this  likely has a computer
or has access to one at a library or a friend's house.

You have access to clean water, or technology that can
clean it for you.

You, if you want something, can find the resources to get
it and it can get there in a matter of days.

You have access to amazing health information and products
with a mouse click.

It's amazing what we have and we have to be thankful for
it.

Even with all this new technology , there is still one thing everyone
has trouble getting for themselves... and that's.... time .

Time to relax
Time to breathe
Time to enjoy
Time to love
Time to play
Time to be grateful
Time to live now !

So , think about it, consciously in this new coming year, take time for you ,
our families , and friends.

Happy Holidays !

My First Alive Thanksgiving!

Can you eat 5 servings of a variety of fruits and vegetables everyday? Your body will say thank you !
With the holidays nearing, the time has come for thinking about clever, memorable, and eco-friendly menus to serve friends and family. Fatty, high calorie filled traditional recipes will be replaced with ingenious solutions to be able to serve better healthier dishes .
We have been mostly vegetarian for about a month or so and loving it ! I would say that I am about 80% raw with the remaining being  made up with  my addictions to cheese, especially goat cheese  on my salads or stuffed inside dates,  "Crunch master " multi-seed crackers ,  eggs  and potatoes still on the weekends. I am very blessed to eat  some the best food in the world . With concerns of posions being prayed on our fruits and veggie , I started a home garden  which I am proud to say I won a Martha Stewart Award for last spring.Unfortunately it has been neglected  after a busy summer at work ... but the local farmers markets make up for that ! I really want to go totally raw some day . I'm  not sure why they call it raw , if you are allowed to heat some things up to 118 degrees ? Shouldn't they say , almost raw ??
Now that it is getting colder and rainy , I'm sure I will still be making my wonderful soups and veggie stews.
We have been invited to friends for Thanksgiving . When we told them that we went vegetarian, the joke was, were we going to bring tofu turkey ? Actually I will be taking  a layered sweet potato cheesecake !  Totally vegan too ... and oh so good ! I can't wait til everyone trys it out ! I made a small sample one for us to try and its  so YUMMY!!
