My grandmother had a restaurant in her home, and my first job was being a car hop at A&W Root beer... I went on to study the food world and remained in the business professionally for over 25 yrs. I semi-retired and took on a new career helping people with pets find a great place to live in So. Cal. I can tell ya my life changed and my new desk job helped add on the pounds !

From Texas to the country in Kansas , & then off to the big city life here in L. A. , where art,culture, music, food and fashion rule , I have been transported into another world. But no matter where we come from we all have one thing in common, we all have to eat !

There is a new consciousness to start eating more healthy, which means more plant based foods. An awareness has come about that we want Big farmers to stop spraying our food with poisons , that organic foods are possible for the masses and we can feed ourselves and families the best foods possible . There is a better way to live. A better way to breathe, a better way to eat .
We are what we eat!

So much for hiring a personal trainer !

I had the bright idea of joining a new gym in town and getting a personal trainer to get me started on track . I was so excited ! I couldn't wait til they finished building it. So beautiful , for women only, spa , the whole works  ... what fun this would be! I had two personal trainer in 4 months with 2 different styles of training . I was all gun -ho !

Warning !! Warning !  Please do not make the big mistakes I made . You must be in shape to have that kind of trainer. At my size also, I am too out of shape to start at that level . My trainers should have know better . I should have know better ! Now I can't move. I have injuries on top of old juries and it has set me back 6 months ! I now have bursitis in my hips. I can't sleep , walk , sit ! Instead of going to the gym  I now go to the doctor every week .

After seeing a few different doctors, and not liking their style of pushing drugs , I have been lucky enough to meet a great  women who is a holistic pain specialist in acupuncture and chiropractor. It is wonderful to work with someone who is truly trying to help me .We are learning a lot from each other . I bring her veggies from my garden .

So lesson learned ? Please start with stretching . Lots of it !!! And lots of water !!!! Stretch for weeks or months first if you have been inactive for any length of time.

A lot of us think that we are active enough with walking , stairs at work or kids at home, but if you really think about it or have a desk job like me , we sit at least 80% of the time, if not more , that we are awake ! In the gym you are going to use muscle you didn't even remember you have. So remember  if you go to fast or don't stretch proper you are in for a big surprise. Ouch !
